Englewood-Greater Chatham Expanded Mental Health Program

MISSION
The Englewood–Greater Chatham Expanded Mental Health Services Program is committed to expanding access to high-quality, culturally responsive, and community-driven mental health care for residents of Englewood and Greater Chatham. Grounded in the authority of the Community Expanded Mental Health Services Act, our mission is to invest in prevention, early intervention, and sustained wellness—particularly for low-income, underinsured, and historically underserved communities. Through a community-governed model, we ensure that residents—not systems—shape the services, strategies, and solutions that impact their mental health and well-being.

VISION
We envision a future where every resident of Englewood and Greater Chatham has equitable access to holistic, affirming mental health care within their own community—without barriers, stigma, or delay.
Guided by the overwhelming mandate of our community—reflected in the 91% voter approval on November 5, 2024—we are building a system where:
-
Mental health care is proactive, not reactive
-
Services are rooted in trust, cultural humility, and community voice
-
Care addresses not only individual needs, but also the broader social and structural conditions that shape mental health
-
Community members serve as decision-makers and stewards through a representative Governing Commission
Our vision is not to replace existing systems, but to transform what’s possible—creating a sustainable, community-led mental health infrastructure that prioritizes healing, prevention, and collective well-being for generations to come.
